Narrowing of image after effect

After I apply an effect...the images looks like it is more narrow visually than the original. I can's use the image with that effect because it looks skewed.

That will depend on the effect. Most effect keep the image size unchanged, but some will intentionally adjust the crop. You can check by pressing F5 to flip to the original image.
