Could you confirm: do you mean to start with a black and white photo and colorize one object? Or do you mean to start with a colored photo and turn the background black and white?

    Kind regards

start with a b/w picture and then colorize one part of it on color

There may be a different way to do it, but this is what I would do:

    1. load the black and white image

    2. Define the part of the image that you want to make a certain color as an area:
    a. click Select Area giving it a name under "Anything Else"
    b. Confirm selection and browse effects

    3. Apply a color effect to the area
(In the column on the left select the category "Color". You will see effects that apply color to the area.)

If there are areas in the image that should have different colors, define each area separately and apply a color effect to each area individually it as described above.

There's another way that might be a bit quicker:

    Use the Area Treatment.

Select an area you want to color
Use the Temperature and Tint controls to get it to the color you want.
Add a new area for the next color

    Repeat.

    That would require less clicks!
