Hi Vimm,
Some effects can take a long time to save if they are complicated, especially ones with denoising. To make sure it's going to work as fast as possible, make sure you have the latest 64 bit version of the software. If even after leaving it for a while you still are having problems, could you open a support ticket and send a session file (File > Save As Session) to support and they will try and reproduce the problem.
