These effects are some of the best I've seen for achieving watercolour looks. But I can't find them in the SPE gallery. Are they published?

Hi Richard,

All the effects are within SPE, BUT, these are not simply 'one-click' results. First of all I used 'watercolor' effects to 'flatten' the image, then I boosted the colors or altered them. Saved at this point. Now I used 'line-art' effects to create overlays and then saved these. I now loaded the 'watercolor' image that I had just made and using the 'Composte' feature I added the 'line-art' image as an 'overlay. That is the basic process, but once I had base images to work from, I used other 'Art' effects to produce the results. I also used the 'staighten' and 'erase' features quite a lot as well as the 'Image Treatment' feature. Because of this, each image had to be created individually as the 'Batch' feature will not work if you use the 'erase' feature in particular.

I am very pleased with the results myself, so I'm glad you like them - I don't have the energy to create a tutorial video, but, who knows, maybe one day.

Hope these images inspire you to try these techniques yourself.

Sorry, but I cannot give you the exact effects used in each image - however, most of them can be found in the 'Artist' tab on the left of your screen.

PS. Just had a look to see what major effect I used and I think it was one of my own called 'Multi colored overlays 030' (by andrewb2012) - hope this helps.

Thanks Andrew, that's OK. Just thought there was a series of effects called 'painterly' as on your file names and I was being stupid or something!

I usually use a technique picked up somewhere using Photoshop Elements. I think I publicised this on this forum some years ago. But it does take time and effort.

Hi Richard,

I took up the challenge and have made a couple of attempts at creating single effects similar to the examples here. I will develop these in due course after I've created watercolor textures. Look out for these two new effects - when they are up and running you will find them as 'Watercolor & Ink Outline 001' and 'Watercolor & Ink Outline 002'. 'Watercolor & Ink Outline 002' offers more control than 001, but I hope to develop these effects further to include a 'flattening' process that will take away the photographic look. I'm quite pleased with the trial - watch this space.
