Lighten a certain area

I am so sorry if you have received this twice. I just cannot find a answer.
I would like to lighten a certain area not the whole picture. It is rocks and a mossy area bottom left of pics. I have tried to select and then find something to replace. I just want to lighten up a small area. I would appreciate any help. Thank you .

For simple changes to areas, the fastest way is to use the Area Treatment tool. You can select several areas and do simple changes (like changing the brightness or exposure) much quicker than using the gallery.
